VERMILION HIGH SHOWCASE
by Frederique Jackson , October 17 2025.The Vermilion High showcase was held at the Cave Inn, Wooloongabba, on 27 September,
and generated much excitement for the audience and artists alike. The camaraderie between
the artists was evident and made for a chill vibe that lasted the whole afternoon. The variety
of genres and approaches to music making created an engaging eclectic mix of toe-tapping,
head-nodding, body swaying sets.
The aesthetics of the Cave Inn; black walls adorned with contemporary artwork, low lighting,
cool bar stools, keg tables, and most importantly great acoustics made for an authentic
experience for the emerging artists. Vermilion Records merch was displayed on a central
table and proved popular with the audience and the artists. Vermilion magazine was hot
property as were the t-shirts.
All the artists performed like pros, and even when faced with some minor tech issues kept it
together; joking with the audience while working it out like old hands. The human touch only
made the performances more memorable. The charisma on show drew the audience in and
strengthened the connection created through relatable, emotive lyrics and music.
If the standard of music performed by the Vermilion High artists is anything to go by,
Australian music is in safe hands in the years to come. These will be names you will hear of
in the future; nominated for ARIA awards, feature artists at the AFL or NRLgrand finals,
supporting artists for international acts, or headlining some of Australia’s biggest music
festivals. The sky’s the limit for this talented group of emerging artists.

yourself singing the lyrics long after you’ve turned off your speaker. Previews of the song
recordings left the fortunate audience of QUT Creative Industries students gob-smacked with
