21-year-old Laura originally born in Canberra, moved to the Gold Coast at the age of 8 with her parents and two sisters. She has been singing, song writing and playing piano from a young age. In her spare time, she loves hiking, swimming, or writing new music. Laura is studying a Bachelor of Education and is eager to support and educate young students in their education journey and personal journey of finding their passions. Her voice has a smooth soft tone with similar attributes to Missy Higgins and Gracie Abrams. She is inspired and influenced by artists such as Gracie Abrams, Taylor Swift, Kelsea Ballerini, Phoebe Bridgers and Olivia Rodrigo.
Laura explained that listening to music and writing original music allows her to just get lost in this whole other world. She enjoys singing covers and writing original music inspired by personal experiences and the emotions that come with life. She hopes to write and share music about universal emotions and experiences that people can relate to and feel less alone in especially feelings of loss, heartbreak, sadness, and anger. She feels that often people can bottle up emotions or feel helpless. Laura wants people, especially young adults who could be feeling these emotions for the first time to not feel so alone or isolated.
Laura has a passion for music genres such as pop, contemporary-pop, country, country-rock and more. She sometimes hears slight twang in her voice and enjoys country artists and the stories they tell. Laura loves focusing on the lyrics and the instrumentation that accompanies them, as she believes the lyrics, an artist writes really connects to what they’re expressing. She hopes to connect with others through her music in similar ways. Laura has used music to express herself when words were difficult, and it became a haven for her to reflect and digest her own emotions through difficult times or experiences. Laura has busked at shopping centres and performed paid gigs at her university.
